I think the sole reason that I came up with a tutoring
service for upper level classes is because it was something that I myself had a
need for. I imagine my customer is very similar to someone like me. I imagine
her as a sophomore attending the University of Florida. She is an engineering
major like me. She was probably at the top of her class in high school, but
here she is just average and she found the gen ed. classes required by UF to be
very easy, but now that she’s entered her engineering classes she is
struggling. Like me, the customer avatar attends all her classes and takes
notes, but finds that exams are always much more challenging than the actual
course material. My customer avatar is not a student that wants to glide by
getting C’s; she wants to ace all of her classes, but may need a little extra
assistance. She goes out to midtown as often as she can (when she doesn’t have
upcoming exams) and balances her social life with her school work. She is very studious and hardworking.
My customer
avatar probably watches some reality TV shows to take a break from all her
engineering coursework as reality TV offers “comic relief”.
I have a lot in common with my customer avatar, as I described
above. I don’t think this is a coincidence given that I came up with a tutoring
service for upper-level classes because I saw that I had easy access to
tutoring for general education classes, but not for harder engineering classes.
In essence, I came up with this service because of a problem that I myself am
facing.
Below is my customer avatar.
I think you provided a very detailed description of your avatar. You described her as someone very similar to yourself, which is something I think entrepreneurs might do a lot. We like to put ourselves in the customer's shoes. The detail you provided for the avatar's academic goals is amazing, I really got a feel of who the avatar is.
ReplyDeleteI think your avatar and most of the students at the University of Florida share this lifestyle as trying to balance both social and academic lifestyles as we can't always be hitting the books. Personally, I can definitely agree on how even when you'll look over all your notes and even attend office hours, it still won't be enough towards acing the class.
ReplyDeleteI like the specifics you mentioned in your avatar and I think it was smart to compare her to yourself as you have the need you are trying to fill. I think you make good points about wanting to ace classes as well as finding exams more difficult than the material in class. I think a lot of students could relate to this avatar you imagined.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you based your avatar somewhat off of you since that's who you designed your product after. I think it's great you've chosen an opportunity you can relate to so well, as it really allows you to look deep into who would also benefit from this product. I also like all the detail you put into your avatar, like her motivations and her past, as it really creates a better insight as to who you're aiming your product after.
